The Department of Botany since its inception in 1968 in the erstwhile Post-Graduate Centre, Osmania University has made great strides during its four decades of existence. The Department came into existence in September 1968 with one specialization, Cytology and Cytogenetics with an intake of 15 students.

The Department of Botany since its inception in 1968 in the erstwhile Post-Graduate Centre, Osmania University has made great strides during its four decades of existence. At present the department is housed in a well-planned specious building measuring 15137.00 sft with lecture halls, practical labs and Seminar Hall and Research labs for individual staff members.

The ambience at the Department of Botany instills sense of purpose and dedication in the minds of students. The students on completion of their course would leave as confident and committed individuals to meet challenges of today’s highly competitive world.
