The District Legal Aid Committee constituted with the District & Sessions Judge as its Chairman has been very active in providing free legal aid to the poor, whose income is less than Rs.500/ - and property not more than worth Rs.l0,000/-

The University College of Law has taken up this programme under its National Service Scheme and is conducting camps to identify the cases and every effort is made to ensure that justice is not denied to any citizen by the reason of economic or other disabilities. The NSS Unit of University College of Law is also providing facilities for legal literacy programmes for the benefit of the people on important social welfare legislations like Minimum Wages Act, Industrial Disputes Act, Workmen's Compensation Act, Consumer Protection Act and on Fundamental Rights and duties of the citizen. The College has also started a Clinic for free legal aid to the poor. Under this, the clinic will provide practical training to the final year students of the Law for effectively implementing the programmes on legal aid and legal literacy.
