During 2002-2003 Community Service rendered by the NSS volunteers has covered several aspects like adoption of villages for development work, carrying out the medico-social surveys, setting up of medical centres, programmes of mass immunization, sanitation drives, adult education programmes, blood donation, helping patients in hospitals, helping inmates of orphanages and the physically handicapped etc.
The major achievement of NSS Unit, KU is the Dr. Manohara Chary, NSS Programme, Karimnagar got prestigious Indira Gandhi National NSS Award sponsored by Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt. of India, New Delhi, which is a higher honour conferred to an NSS Officer given in recognition of their services.
Activities during 2005-2006
NSS has organized mass rallies in connection with Aasha campaign at Karimnagar, Warangal and Khammam districts in the month of July, 2005 involving 20,000 volunteers and non-volunteers in each district involving individuals in public life.
NSS, KU was identified as one of the best universities in the State for playing active role in propagating the dangers of AIDS through rallies, symposia, etc.
Activities during 2006-2007
1) Organized Inter-Collegiate Mega work camp on the campus from 10-19 August, 2006 in connection with the 30th University Formation Day with 150 volunteers of Warangal District and laid an internal road from University College of Education to SDLCE.
2) Participation of four (4) volunteers in Republic Day Parade Camp at New Delhi.
3) Organized Inter collegiate Youth Leadership Training Camps at Adilabad, Karimnagar, Warangal and Khammam districts involving 100 volunteers in each camp.
4) Volunteers of the NSS, KU has donated blood voluntarily and the NSS Cell is providing the addresses of the volunteers of even the rare groups of blood to the needy round the clock.
5) Prof. A. Seetaram has received Best Programme Co-ordinator award (APSACS-AASHA) from Sri K. Roshaiah garu, Hon’ble Minister for Medical & Health, Govt. of A.P.
6) Organized Mega Work Camp at Mahabubabad Mandal to assert total awareness on HIV/AIDS with 300 volunteers drawn from four districts of KU jurisdiction which is a unique programme in January 2007.
7) Organized Anti Ragging Rally on September 12, 2006.
8) Conducted (Eight) 8 district level NSS Youth Festivals during 2006.
