The department of botany is established in the year 1968 with a built-up area of 18167 sq.ft in the university college campus and is currently headed by Prof.N.Pratap Reddy. The department have academic, administrative and financial autonomy.

The department is equipped with advance facilities such as Green House,Computing facilities – Internet, HPLC, GC, Phase contrast microscope, Stereo binocular microscope, PCR machine, Walking Chamber, UV Spectrophotometer, Orbital Shaking Incubator, Refrigerated centrifuge, Gene Gun, Gyratory Shaker, Laminar Air Flow Work Station etc.
