The Department of Chemistry is one of the first four Departments started in the then Post Graduate Centre Warwngal of Osmania University. The Department came into existence in september 1967 with two specializations, viz., Inorganic and Organic Chemistry, with an intake of 12 students. The facilities available in the Regional Engineering College, Warangal were utilised first and after completion of the construction of temporary structures, the Department moved into the present campus in January 1970.
The Department was shaped and strengthened by the eminent chemists like Prof. M. M. Taqui Khan, Prof. M.L.N Reddy and Prof. E.V. Sundaram till 1988.
